1. The Western Pennsylvania Fall Baseball League (WPFBL) is underway with 30 teams playing in the league. Play started last weekend.
2. The WPFBL is conducting a showcase on October 3. Cost is $60 for players participating in the WPFBL and $75 for all others. The Showcase will be held at Heleny Richey Field, Renziehausen Park, McKeesport PA. Contact Brian Dzurenda (brimspt@aol.com), Phil Cicco (phillip.cicco@gmail.com) or Jim Chester (jjc32@psu.edu) for more informaton.
3. Seton LaSalle has hired Chuck Rutter as head baseball coach, replacing Shawn Trainor who resigned.

1. This year's Ed Santa showcase will be on October 30 in Morgantown. More details to come later
2. Gateway High School names Mark Wardzinski as its new head baseball coach
3. Dave Bates has resigned as head coach at Carmichaels, as he has become principal of Jefferson-Morgan HS. Dave will be missed in high school circles. He is a great guy who always approached the game with great enthusiam. Just a fun guy to be around. We wish Dave well, but he will be missed.

The Babe Ruth National Organization and All Star Baseball Academy are partnering to host the BABE RUTH NATIONAL SHOWCASE EVENT, at Don Edwards Park in Newark, OH, AUG 21-22.
Registration is still open with limited slots available. Players who are serious about baseball and potentially playing in college are invited to attend and showcase their skills in front of 12 college programs. Age group is 15 to 18 years of age.
Babe Ruth, Legion, HS and Travel team players are all invited to sign up.
COLLEGES PARTICIPATING: Penn State, Pitt, UC, Dayton, Maryland, Tennessee, Richmond, Villanova, Coastal Carolina, North Carolina, UNC-Asheville and Florida Southern. Great list and great opportunity for OH/KY players to get exposure and visibility.
Cost is $350. for this comprehensive Showcase event with drills, evaluations, and live games.

I'm back from my various summer vacations and starting to look ahead to the upcoming school year. A number of coaching changes are in various stage so I thought it might be good to list the changes I know about. It's possible that some of these have been filled and others have opened while I have been away but here is what I know.
Central Valley -- The merger of Center and Monaca has hired Paul DeFilippi (Center's coach) as its head baseball coach
Butler -- Dave Florie has resigned/retired. I haven't heard of a replacement
Fox Chapel -- Don Schubert has resigned. No word on a replacement.
Gateway -- Don Nania has resigned. No word on a replacement.
Ringgold -- Brett Grandstand has resigned. No word on a replacement
South Park -- Todd Welsh has resigned. No word on a replacement.
Seton LaSalle - Shawn Trainor has resigned. No word on a replacement
St Joseph - John Elko has resigned. No word on a replacement
